Witness appeal following fatal collision on Hatchet Road

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Stoke Gifford last night (Tuesday 19th January).

At approximately 9.40pm, a Vauxhall Astra was in collision with a pedestrian on Hatchet Road.

Sadly, the pedestrian, a 28-year-old woman, died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

Officers attended the scene and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst alcohol level is above the legal limit.

As a result of further enquiries, a 28-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both men remain in custody at this time.

A police spokesperson said:

“We would appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or seen the vehicle prior to the incident to contact us immediately on 101 and quote reference number 5216013295.”

“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family.”

A spokesperson for Avon Fire & Rescue confirmed that one fire engine from Patchway attended the incident, adding that the crew assisted police at the scene.
