During the enforced closure due to the third Covid-19 lockdown, the 1st Little Stoke Scout Group has made significant improvements to its headquarters adjacent to the children’s play area in Little Stoke Park.

The group has benefited from donations of office furniture from Leidos Europe Ltd, carpet tiles from Greenstream Flooring and a funding allowance from Stoke Gifford Parish Council. These donations have enabled them to refurbish the meeting room, which will be used by Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. The building is also now used by the youth groups that used to meet at The Stokes community centre.

“The generosity of the Leidos, Greenstream Flooring and the council has been a great help in making the building so much more welcoming and a pleasure to meet in,” says group leader Tony Edmonds.

Little Stoke Scout Group welcomes enquires from other groups who may wish to use the building, especially organisations who work with and for children in our area.

The building includes a well-equipped kitchen, large open hall area and toilets. There is also a large, enclosed garden with a raised seating area and a fire pit – great for outdoor cooking and campfires.

In the summer holidays, Mad Science are going to be using the building for summer science camps. They hope to be running camps Monday to Friday, 8am to 5 pm, for children aged 5 to 11. Look out for a sign on the railings by the hut or join the mailing list at www.madsciencebristol.co.uk
