There has certainly been a lot of activity in the first month of the new minister’s arrival at Little Stoke Baptist Church. More people have been attending the free coffee morning every Thursday 10am-noon, the car park has been spruced up with some new planting and a ‘Build a Bug House’ community event has taken place.

Little Stoke Scouts set for September restart
Little Stoke Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are all set to restart their face-to-face programme after having had to meet via Zoom for the last 18 months. The leaders and children are all keen to get back to fun Scouting activities and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible after being ‘locked down’ for so long.

Temporary shuttle lights which had been in place at Parkway Bridge since June 2020 were removed at the start of September, coinciding with the start of the new school year and an anticipated increase in traffic levels. At the same time, footways under the bridge have been permanently widened by small amounts and a 20mph speed limit for road users introduced.

Students at Stoke Gifford’s Abbeywood Community School have once again registered “strong” outcomes in their GCSE assessments. A spokesperson said: “Students have achieved incredibly well across the full range of GCSE and Level 2 qualifications; outcomes have been strong but so has the progress of our students from their starting points.”

A brother and sister from Little Stoke are running the Bristol Half Marathon to raise funds for a charity which supports families that, like their own, have been affected by military suicide. The siblings’ family had their lives completely devastated in May 2020 when their brother tragically took his own life following a battle with mental health illness.

South Gloucestershire Council has announced that Gipsy Patch Lane will reopen to traffic in a westbound direction only (towards the A38) from 6am on Monday 6th September 2021. The one-way system will operate between the Little Stoke Lane junction and the mini-roundabout at Rolls-Royce.
