UWE Exhibition and Conference Centre, Bristol.

The UWE Exhibition and Conference Centre will be the focus of the media this Friday (16th November) when it hosts the count for two important elections taking place the previous day.

Despite being outside the City boundary, the Centre has been chosen by Bristol City Council to accommodate the counts for both the Bristol Mayor election and the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election.

Polling takes place on Thursday (15th November), between 7am and 10pm.

Around 2,000 people are expected at the count, which will start at 9am on Friday.

The City Council has employed around 1,000 people to work at the count, including several hundred UWE students. They will be joined by up to 1,000 others, including the candidates, their supporters, political representatives and the media.

Information about the candidates standing in the local PCC election can be found on the Avon and Somerset page of the Choose My PCC website.

The local PCC candidates are:

  • Pete Levy (Liberal Democrat)
  • Ken Maddock (Conservative)
  • Sue Mountstevens (Independent)
  • John Savage (Labour)

Both elections will employ the supplementary vote system in which electors are asked to select their first and second choices for the role.
