Work starts on 327-home development on land just east of Stoke Gifford

Streams of soil-laden tipper trucks passing through Bradley Stoke and construction activity at Parkway North Roundabout at the northern end of the Stoke Gifford By-Pass are signs that work has now begun in earnest on a 327-home development site on the borders of Bradley Stoke and Stoke Gifford.

Bridge reopening could be further delayed as drainage pumps deemed inadequate

The projected date for reopening the road under the new railway bridge on Gipsy Patch Lane looks likely to be further delayed after engineers decided a larger pumping station will be required to prevent flooding.

Long-service awards for Stoke Gifford leaders

Two Stoke Gifford Scout leaders have received awards for good and long service to Scouting. Sue Baker, a Beaver Scout leader, and Michele Grattidge, a Scout and Explorer Scout leader, were presented with awards in December for their dedication and support to Scouting in Stoke Gifford.

School’s breakfast club crowned ‘best in the South West’ by Kellogg’s

A school in Stoke Gifford has been judged to have the best club in the South West in the annual Kellogg’s Breakfast Club Awards. Abbeywood Community School has received a cash prize of £1,000 to spend on its breakfast club as well as a special party pack for the students to celebrate in the coming months.

MetroBus: Eight-week closure of Gipsy Patch Lane westbound starts Monday

A further restriction on traffic flow along Gipsy Patch Lane, Little Stoke, is due to come into force on Monday (8th March 2021) with the closure of a section of the westbound carriageway just west of the Little Stoke Lane junction.

Vehicle crime on the rise in Stoke Gifford

Police are warning Stoke Gifford residents to make sure their cars and vans are locked when unattended following a spate of vehicle crime in the area. Several CCTV clips posted on social media show two or three individuals walking along roads, usually around midnight, “trying the doors” of parked vehicles.

Police have issued a CCTV image in an appeal for witnesses and information following a knifepoint robbery at the McColl’s convenience store in Kingsway, Little Stoke. It happened at about 7.45am on Wednesday 3rd February 2021.
