Bus passengers in Stoke Gifford and Little Stoke will see a number of timetable and route changes coming into effect from Sunday 3rd September 2023.

The changes affect First Bus services M4 MetroBus, 19, 73 and Y6.

Service M4

The timetable of the M4 MetroBus service, which links Cribbs Causeway, Bristol Parkway, UWE and Bristol city centre, is being revised. Some journeys will be “sped up to avoid excess slack in the timetable”. The largest reduction is a saving of 7 minutes on a morning peak journey from Cribbs Causeway to Bristol city centre.

Evening times are altered to better fit in with the M1 MetroBus service on the common section of these two routes, to avoid overcrowding.

Although the Monday to Friday daytime frequency of ‘every 20 minutes’ remains, the total number of daily journeys is reduced by two in each direction.

The last journey back to Stoke Gifford from the city centre from Monday to Saturday now leaves at 23:40 (previously 23:15). The final departure on Sundays and bank holidays is unchanged at 19:10.

Service 73

As previously reported by the Bradley Stoke Journal, the route of the 73 service is being extended, at off-peak times only, to the Aztec West Business Park. It is also being merged with the former 92 service to create a cross-city route that extends from Aztec West / Bradley Stoke all the way to Hengrove / Whitchurch in south Bristol.

Service Y6

The Y6, which links Chipping Sodbury, Bristol Parkway Station, Cribbs Causeway, Southmead Hospital and Bristol city centre, will have a new timetable and a route change.

Between Southmead Hospital and Bristol city centre, this service will now operate via Henleaze along the 2/2a route, rather than Gloucester Road, providing more buses in the Henleaze area and providing direct links to Southmead Hospital from a wider area.

Service 76 will continue to link Gloucester Road to Southmead Hospital directly.
