Local Poppy Appeal for 2023/24 launched at Parkway Station

The Stoke Gifford branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) launched its 2023/24 Poppy Appeal with a ceremony in the foyer of Bristol Parkway Station last Friday (27th October 2023).

Local councillors, members of local youth groups and motorcyclists from the Bristol RBL Riders joined local RBL members in observing a one-minute silence.

Parkway Station is one of the main sites for the branch’s fundraising efforts, along with The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, Sainsbury’s in Stoke Gifford and the Willow Brook Centre in Bradley Stoke.

Poppy Appeal collections will take place at the above four venues from Saturday 28th October until Saturday 11th November, between 9am and 7pm each day.

Anyone interested in volunteering as a collector is asked to email the branch on rblstokegifford@gmail.com or phone Tony on 07971 242845.

Money raised through the Poppy Appeal goes to the RBL’s Welfare Fund, which is used to give help and support to serving and ex-service personnel and their families.

Services of Remembrance

A service of Remembrance will be held at Stoke Gifford Cenotaph, North Road, on Sunday 12th November 2023, starting at 10.30am (please assemble from 10.25am).

At 11am there will be a service held at Stoke Gifford Baptist Church for those who wish to attend.

A service of Remembrance will be held at the memorial in Scott Park, Patchway, on Sunday 19th November 2023. Ahead of this, a parade will leave Coniston Road car park (near the doctors’ surgery) at 10.30am.
