South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) is working with its partners Network Rail, Great Western Railway (GWR) and the West of England Combined Authority (Weca) to prepare a strategic masterplan for Bristol Parkway Railway Station and the surrounding area.

About the masterplan

SGC says the aim of the masterplan is to “deliver a vision on how the station can be improved so it becomes a better gateway to the North Fringe of Bristol and the whole of South Gloucestershire”.

The masterplan’s objectives are to:

  • Better connect the station to local communities
  • Improve routes for walking, wheeling (such as mobility scooters) and cycling
  • Improve connections to bus services
  • Make better use of available land
  • Improve the customer experience at the station
  • Improve facilities at the station
  • Improve access to the station
  • Attract and retain the best talent and investment
  • Respond to the climate and nature emergency

Following the building of an ‘evidence base’ (October 2021 to January 2022) and engagement with key stakeholders (January 2022 to March 2022), a draft masterplan has been produced.

The draft masterplan, based on the evidence base and feedback from key stakeholders, covers the proposed vision, key principles, and preferred development option.
